Cheap Travel Europe: Bargains Abound in London, Paris, Milan in January

Right after Christmas is bargain hunting season in the world's fashion capitals: Paris, Milan, London.

The Paris Chamber of Commerce and the Visitors Bureau has declared January 10-20 as official sale dates. Many sales last for up to six weeks, though, with up to 70% discounts. Bargain hunters recommend the Rue de Rivoli arcade and the Rue de Rennes for more affordable finds.

In Milan, sales begin on the first weekend of January on to February. Affordable designer outlets can be found in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Buenos Aires, Corso Vercelli and Corso XXII Marzo. You can also try the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Serravalle and the shopping strips at Via Torino.

London is also well into its winter sales. If you're brave enough to join the crowds go to Kings Road in Chelsea and Knightsbridge,Covent Garden in central London and Notting Hill in west London.
